Summer School

The new Screenwriting weeks in English with New York Film Academy are designed for students from first to fourth high school year and allow students to write a screenplay for a short film or TV series. The program involves a combination of theory and hands-on experience: students delve into the fundamental elements of screenwriting while collaborating in writing teams, getting in touch with the world of screenwriting and TV film writing. Classes are taught by New York Film Academy's prestigious academic corps of professional screenwriters.
During the week, students can learn all the secrets of writing, starting from brainstorming to the idea, from the basics of writing a professional short bible to the tricks of making one's story appealing to the national and international market. Students can learn about the world behind the small and big screen, with a focus on the importance of teamwork and the written and oral presentation of the project.

Meet the Teacher: Colette Freedman
Colette Freedman is an internationally produced playwright, screenwriter, Hollywood's top script doctors, ghostwriters and novelist. She has taught screenwriting and playwriting at NYFA for the last six years.

Week scheme

The lessons’ timetable goes from 9.00 am to 18.00 pm.

• Morning and afternoon: Interactive lessons and group workshops
• Evening - students that choose the residential option (with accommodation) continue the day with leisure activities, staying at Luiss residences or affiliated structures.

Conclusive test and start of the Luiss admission path
At the end of the week, students at the high school year before the penultimate have the chance to take a conclusive test allowing them to start the admission path in Luiss. The psycho-attitudinal test also concerns academic knowledge, and it allows students to bonus points that will be counted on the earlier admission test that is to be taken within the Orientation 4 the following year.

Residences

Luiss University Residences are designed to provide you with a welcoming and comfortable environment throughout the entire week of NYFA. The main residence hall that will accommodate students is at Via Lisbona 7, just one-minute walk from campus. This residence gives students the opportunity to fully experience university life. Specifically, students attending Summer School will have the chance to experience the residences in the same way as regular university students. This facility provides students with common areas where they can study together and relax. The rooms, whether single or double with private facilities, come equipped with all the essential amenities needed for the week. Wi-Fi connectivity is available throughout the building.
Daytime concierge and nighttime security ensure the safety of students, while an emergency technical assistance service is ready to intervene if needed.
